What Is Child & Teen Checkups?
Child and Teen Checkups (C&TC) is a program that provides medical and dental care for children under the age of 21 who are eligible for Medicaid or Medical Assistance (MA). Your MA health plan may offer incentives for completing routine checkups:
Why Are Child & Teen Checkups Important?
- Regular medical and dental checkups help keep children healthy
- Health problems can be found and treated early
- Children can get tested for exposure to lead, tuberculosis and other diseases
- Parents and children can get information about healthy lifestyles
When Are Child & Teens Checkups Recommended?
- Regular medical checkups are recommended between birth and 1 month, at 2, 4, 6, 9 ,12, 15, 18, 24, and 30 months, and every year beginning at age 3 until age 21.
- Regular dental checkups should begin at the eruption of the first tooth and no later than the age 12 months, and should continue every six months
What Can I Expect At a Child & Teen Checkup?
- A child and teen checkup typically includes a physical exam, immunizations as recommended, hearing and vision screenings, lab tests, information about good health, information about thoughts, feelings and relationships with others, as well as discussion about growth and development.
